Gouache? on Vellum on 1/16" Board. As you can see, there are a couple of small areas of paint loss. Otherwise it's in great condition.
This is the original painting published as the cover to the vintage Gothic paperback novel The Lotus Vellum, written by Charlotte Hunt in 1970. Podwil is known for some lovely Science Fiction cover art, but he did quite a few Gothic covers, often drawing the women with impossibly long legs as one of his personal hallmarks.
