Jusko, Joe – Savage Sword of Conan #138 - Cover !

Joe Jusko is a painted cover legend at Marvel Comics. He was a wunderkind who broke in as a pro with a fully painted cover at the age of 18 and then proceeded to become the face of Marvel's painted cover artists with his run of Savage Sword of Conan covers, before ultimately exploding in popularity during the early 1990's when he was tapped to pain an entire trading card set, accurately called Marvel Masterpieces.

Of his entire cover run, this is arguable one of his absolute best. Our hero is front and center, raging in the night as a lightning storm brew overhead and his vanquished enemies lie below. The color palette is exquisite, especially the electric blue of the night sky. Jusko only painted something in the neighbourhood of 30 to 33 Savage Sword covers, so they are very rare given how it felt they seemed to stretch throughout an entire decade! If you're in the market for a Jusko SSoC cover, you'll be hard pressed to find a better one.
